Our support staff are excellent caregivers. Backed by training and possessing extensive experience and credentials they provide the very best veterinary care available. All staff regularly undergo continuing education. Their professional activities are evident in the lectures and seminars they lead and in the leadership they provide professional associations. Our doctors pursue research and publish their findings. They provide leadership in their communities as well and provide financial support to causes and organizations that improve the quality of life for friends, neighbors, and others.
Cardiology
Hall, Dan VMD, DACVIM (Cardiology)
Dr. Hall , Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Cardiology) grew up in Kent Lakes, N.Y. and received his BA degree in biology (1998) and his VMD. degree (2003) from the University of Pennsylvania. During his time at Penn, he also competed on the varsity Track & Field team (Pole Vault and Decathlon). Dr. Hall worked in general practice for 5 years in Pennsylvania before returning to Tufts University to complete a 3 year residency in cardiology. Dr. Hall’s professional interests include interventional cardiology, early screening methods for acquired cardiac disease, and the use of advanced echocardiographic applications for staging cardiac disease. He has several first author publications in the major veterinary journals (JVIM, JAVMA, AJVR, JVC) as well as a book chapter on heart failure, and enjoys lecturing on any cardiology topic. Dr. Hall was recognized with the Excellence in Teaching award from Tufts University.
After Hours: Dan enjoys any outdoor activity or sport, photography, landscaping, and music; he plays piano and guitar. Dr. Hall is joined by his wife and two children, a cat and two dogs (one with pulmonic stenosis, of course).

Dermatology
Watson, Jacqueline DVM, DACVD
Dr. Jacqueline Watson, Diplomate American College of Veterinary Dermatology, grew up in Newtown, Pennsylvania. She received her BS degree in Biology from James Madison University in 2004 where she also competed as a Division 1 scholarship athlete on the track and field and cross country team. She received her DVM from the University of Minnesota in 2008. After completing a rotating internship at Red Bank Veterinary Hospital in New Jersey, she continued her training at the University of Tennessee where she completed her residency in veterinary dermatology in 2012. She practiced veterinary dermatology at several specialty centers in New Jersey and Pennsylvania before joining the SCVSEC team. She has lectured at the local and national levels, and has conducted research in pyoderma and alopecia X. Her professional interests include pyoderma, allergic dermatitis, autoimmune and immune-mediated skin diseases, and feline dermatology. Dr. Watson passed the certifying exam in veterinary dermatology by the ACVD. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and Phi Zeta Veterinary Honor Society.
Jacqueline lives in Columbia with her husband Luke, also a veterinarian, and their Bull Terrier, Funkmaster Flex, two sparsely haired cats, Diesel and Velvet, five snakes, pacman frog and Iguana. She enjoys endurance running and racing, reading, spending time with her husband and family, and traveling abroad. She aspires to visit every continent including Antarctica (three to go!).
Emergency
Bruner, Courtney DVM
Dr. Courtney Bruner received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Mississippi State University in 2010. After which, she completed a year long rotating internship at Tufts University, Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine where she developed a love of emergency medicine. Dr. Bruner then joined an Emergency and Referral hospital in the Boston area for two years before joining SCVSEC.
Dr. Bruner’s interests include trauma, emergency surgery, and critical patient care. She has two dogs, Tek and Lex. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, hiking and camping, kayaking, and learning to play the guitar.
Gibson, Kellie DVM
Dr. Kellie Gibson received both her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine and Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Georgia. In 2000, after completing her veterinary degree, Dr. Gibson moved to Northern Virginia where she began her career in a mobile equine practice. She eventually moved on to a small animal practice and was in general practice for 10 years. However, Dr. Gibson has always had an interest in emergency medicine and critical care and in 2011 she joined the staff of SCVSEC. Her other interests include soft tissue surgery, endocrine disease, and feline medicine. In her spare time, Dr. Gibson enjoys running marathons, local theatre, horseback, traveling, reading and spending time with friends and family. Her pets include a Cavalier King Charles mix, Lily; two Tennessee Walking Horse mares, Jackie and Lady; and her Cat, Squirty.
Kelly, Allison DVM
Dr. Allison Kellyhails from the Chicago area. She graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in Animal Sciences and a minor in Chemistry in 2005. Her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine was earned in 2009 from Iowa State University. After graduation, Dr. Kelly completed a year-long small animal rotating medicine and surgery internship at two VCA hospitals in the Chicago area. For nearly two years post-internship, she worked as an emergency clinician at VCA Berwyn – mentoring interns and receiving emergency cases. Moving to South Carolina and joining SCVEC is the next new adventure for Dr. Kelly. Her primary interests in veterinary medicine include emergency and critical care, soft tissue surgery, and neurology. Her interests outside of veterinary medicine include hiking, spending time outdoors, reading, cooking, playing the piano, and traveling. She has one cat, Chief, who basically runs her home.
Kolb, Stacy DVM
Dr. Kolbcomes to us from the Tampa Bay Area, where she practiced emergency medicine for eight years. She received a BS in Biology from Midland Lutheran College in Fremont, Nebraska. She then earned her veterinary degree from St. George University School of Veterinary Medicine, Grenada West Indies. After graduating, she completed a small animal internship at Boston Road Animal Hospital in Springfield, Massachusetts. Her experience and skills are great assets to our 24-7 Emergency Room.
After Hours: Dr. Kolb enjoys spending her spare time sailing, hiking, and traveling. She also enjoys cheering for the Tampa Bay Rays and Tampa Bay Lightning, two teams that earned her loyalty during her tenure in the Sunshine State.
McCann, Heather DVM
Dr. McCanngrew up in the oceanside city of Nanaimo on Vancouver Island, BC. She received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2001 from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. She then went to southern California for an equine medical and surgical Internship. Dr. McCann worked in private practice as an equine veterinarian for 4 years prior to changing her focus to small animal medicine and surgery in 2005. Her veterinary skills have taken her all across North America, however, she and her husband are very happy to be back in the South. Dr. McCann’s veterinary interests include wound care, emergency surgery and caring for critically ill patients.
In her spare time, Dr. McCann enjoys spending time with her husband and their 2 dogs- Gulliver and Naula, having fun with friends and family, riding and competing in dressage with her Oldenburg mare Rosatta,travelling, yoga, and laying on a sunny beach with a good book.
Quick, Tracie DVM
Dr. Tracie Quickis a native of Sumter SC. Dr. Quick received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (2000) and Bachelor of Science (1996) degrees from the University of Georgia. After veterinary school she completed a Rotating Internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at Washington State University. Post-internship she served as a temporary clinical instructor in the WSU Community Practice Program before joining SC Veterinary Emergency Care (SCVEC) in 2001. Dr. Quick became the Medical Director of SCVEC in February of 2008. When SCVEC and SC Veterinary Specialists merged in June 2013 she became Medical Director of the Emergency Service of SCVSEC.
Dr. Quick’s interests within veterinary medicine include trauma, hepatic disorders, and disorders of hemostasis. She has served the Greater Columbia Association of Veterinarians as President, Vice President, and Executive Board Advisor.
In her free time Dr. Quick enjoys bee-keeping, gardening, traveling, reading, and hiking. She and her husband Jamie have a handsome newborn son and 3 charming dogs (Molly, a Great Pyrenees mix; Sophie, a Golden Retriever; and Huckleberry, a Standard Poodle), a beautiful horse named Bella, a flock of funny backyard chickens, and several aquariums.
Turner, Michelle DVM
Dr. Michelle Turner joined the team at SCVSEC in October 2010. She received an Industrial Engineering degree from Georgia Tech in 2004, and received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Georgia in 2009. She was in private practice for a year and a half before realizing her true calling in emergency medicine. Dr. Turner enjoys the fast pace and clients in emergency medicine and finds it very challenging and full-filling. Her veterinary interests include feline medicine, wound care and management, emergency surgery, and client education. Dr. Turner and her husband, Paul, have a daughter, Layla, and a son, Cash. They share their home here in Chapin with various rescue animals including 3 dogs (River, Chevy, Brinkley) and 3 cats (Qtip, Kitty and Tazz).
Internal Medicine
Feder, Brett DVM, DACVIM (Small Animal Internal Medicine)
Dr. Feder earned B.S. degrees in Zoology and Microbiology and his DVM (1987) from the University of Florida. After internship and residency at The Animal Medical Center in New York and three years as Assistant Professor of Small Animal Medicine at Oklahoma State University, he became a board-certified Diplomate of Small Animal Internal Medicine of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in 1993. Dr. Feder founded South Carolina Veterinary Internal Medicine in Columbia in 1994. He has lectured at local, state, and national conferences, published articles in veterinary journals and textbooks, has been co-editor of a section of a textbook, and is past president of The Greater Columbia Association of Veterinarians. Dr. Feder is currently a member of the Board of the South Carolina Association of Veterinarians
After-hours: Brett and his wife Karen, who is also a veterinarian, have two sets of twin daughters- Lauren, Lindsey, Brooke and Bailey, two dogs- Jingle and Lava, and a cat- Holly. Brett enjoys spending time with his family, travelling, college football (Go Gators!), and being an amateur tournament poker player at the World Series of Poker and World Poker Tour events.
Goldman, Corinne DVM, MS, DACVIM (Small Animal Internal Medicine)
Dr. Goldman , Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, is a Maryland native, and grew up in the suburbs of Washington, D.C. She earned her BS degree and DVM from Virginia Tech and remains an avid fan. She completed an internship at Carolina Veterinary Specialists, followed by an internal medicine residency and Masters Degree in Veterinary Science at Purdue University. During her residency, Dr. Goldman developed an interest in nephrology and minimally invasive urology, and provides non-surgical alternatives for management of lower urinary tract disorders here in Columbia, SC. Dr. Goldman joined our Internal Medicine team in 2008. She is an active member of the Society of Veterinary Nephrologists and Urologists and is a past-president of the Greater Columbia Association of Veterinarians. She lectures on the local, state, and national levels and has published articles in veterinary gastroenterology and urology and is co-author of a chapter in the textbook Nephrology and Urology of Small Animals.
After Hours: Corinne lives with her two Rhodesian Ridgebacks, Mena and Kyan, and cat, Penelope. She enjoys golf and traveling abroad, hiking with her dogs, curling up on a rainy day with her cat and a good novel, exploring local art galleries, and weekends at the beach.
Haviland, Rebecca VMD
Dr. Haviland grew up in Levittown, Pennsylvania and received her BS degree in Biology from Muhlenberg College in 2003. She received her VMD from the University of Pennsylvania in 2007. After completing both a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery and a small animal internal medicine internship at Red Bank Veterinary Hospital in New Jersey, she headed back to the University of Pennsylvania where she completed her residency in Internal Medicine. She has lectured at the local and national levels, and has conducted research in hypoadrenocorticism and thromboembolic diseases. Her special interests include all aspects of endocrinology and hematology. Dr. Haviland recently passed the certifying exam in Small Animal Internal Medicine by the ACVIM.
Rebecca lives in Columbia with her husband Jeff and their two dogs, Charlie and Izzy, and two cats, Jack and Sebastian. She enjoys running, experimenting with baking, and gardening.
Weinkle, Tristan DVM, DACVIM (Small Animal Internal Medicine)
Dr. Weinkle , Diplomate American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, completed his undergraduate and veterinary degrees at Cornell University. He interned at Boston’s Angell Memorial Animal Hospital and returned to Cornell for his internal medicine residency. He joined SCVSEC in 2003, becoming a partner in 2005. He has spoken on regional, national, and international levels and is published in veterinary medicine, virology, and wildlife medicine. His primary interests include liver and gastrointestinal diseases, and immunohematology. He’s a past president of the Greater Columbia Association of Veterinarians and past board member and officer of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine Foundation.
After Hours: Tristan and his wife Ella, have two beautiful daughters, Naja and Adena, a miniature poodle Lula, a ball python Sudan, and a number of fish. Biking, gardening, and hiking keep him fit and active.

Oncology
Brown, Becky DVM, DACVIM (Oncology)
Dr. Brown , Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Oncology), grew up in Atlanta, Georgia and received her B.S. degree in Microbiology and Cell Science from the University of Florida. She received her DVM from the University of Georgia in 2007. After completing a small animal medicine and surgery internship in the New Jersey, she headed back south to the University of Tennessee where she completed her residency in medical oncology. During her residency she developed interests in hemangiosarcoma, histiocytic sarcoma, metronomic chemotherapy, and targeted therapies, and was also able to gain experience in PET/CT scanning. She has lectured on a state and national levels and has conducted research in areas of hemangiosarcoma and anal sac apocrine gland adenocarcinomas.
After Hours: Dr. Brown’s family includes her husband, Anthony, their beautiful newborn son, their two dogs, Lizzie and Bravo, and three cats, Suzie, Albert, and Patrick. She enjoys running, hiking with her husband and dogs, and watching Florida football.
Lucas, Pam DVM DACVIM (Oncology)
Dr. Lucas , Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Oncology), grew up in Nashville, Tennessee, and received her B.S. degree in Agriculture from Tennessee Technological University. She received her DVM from the University of Tennessee. In 2005, she completed a small animal medicine and surgery internship followed by an oncology internship in private practice in Florida. Dr. Lucas completed her residency in medical oncology and received her Master of Science degree from the University of Illinois. She received the Gregory E. MacEwen basic science research award and the Phi Zeta Literary award for research in the areas of lymphoma and osteosarcoma. She lectures at the state and national levels and is published in many veterinary journals. Professional interests include hematopoietic neoplasms, translational medicine, alleviating pathologic bone pain, and the human-animal bond.
After Hours: Dr. Lucas lives in Irmo with her husband Chris and their four-legged kids. She enjoys gardening, cooking, backpacking, and traveling.
Practice Administration
Dillon-Sauer, Gretchen CVMP, MBA, Hospital Administrator
Gretchen Dillon-Sauer, CVPM, MBAjoined South Carolina Veterinary Emergency Care in 2001. Within that company she was promoted in 2003 and became a Certified Veterinary Practice Manager in 2007. Ms. Dillon-Sauer earned a BA in Economics in 1998 and earned her MBA in May 2011 from the University of South Carolina. With the merger, South Carolina Veterinary Specialists & Emergency Care, Gretchen continues to be a leader in this hospital. As the Practice Administrator she is dedicated to excellence in career through education and her focus in veterinary medicine is service via business management and client satisfaction. Gretchen’s next adventure will be to attain her Six Sigma certification. The family’s urban farm consumes her remaining time and you never know when you will see Gretchen pulling up to work on her Scooter.
