2013 was the first year we teamed up with Funtastic out of Vernon here in Port Alberni, and the response has been everything we had hoped for, and more. We hosted 56 teams in 2013, 66 in 2014, 70 teams in 2015-16, & 80 in 2017! Really hoping we can get the number of teams up to 87, or 90 in 2018!!

The 2018 Music Festival portion of the weekend will be sponsored once again by Tyler's No Frills. On July 1st/ 2017 we had our Country/Rock Night….Headliner Paul Laine & Dark Horse did not disappoint the crowd. Paul Laine is an incredible talent and we were very fortunate to have him on stage!! Our good friends from Victoria, The County Line & local bands, From The Hip, and Lazy Mike & The Rocking Recliners were also on stage for Canada’s 150th!! July 2nd we had our first Hip Hop/Rapper SirReal and he put on an awesome show in the afternoon. The Rangers hit the stage followed by Shelly Beeston and BABY JANE…..what a powerful voice she has! The Headliner for the night was THE ODDS!! Great Canadian Band performing all their classic hits. VIP passes were handed out to the gang from Alberni Teens Can Rock. They got to meet THE ODDS and had front row seats for the performance. Thanks to Jason Samson for putting this wicked lineup together for 2017!!

Our Music Director Jason Samson is working on the 2018 line up while you are reading this!! For updates please check the website for the 2018 bands...they will be posted as soon as they are booked, and confirmed. Thanks J!!

We already have 11 teams signed up for 2018, and we are receiving emails/messages from new teams looking for 2018 tourney info. Team Greased Lightening & The Renegades received FREE ENTRY for winning the LARLALAND COSTUME CONTEST…..they were amazing all weekend, and both teams did such a great job….they were both awarded the prize. FREE ENTRY FOR 2018 & FREE WRISTBANDS to the Music Festival!! After seeing all the zany costumes in Vernon over the past decade, to see the teams who entered the costume contest here in Alberni was really nice......it kept a smile on our faces all weekend.

The MOST SPORTSMANLIKE TEAM portion of the Okee Dokee Tournament will be back this year----it will honour a man who loved coming to Port Alberni every July long weekend. RICK MYKITIUK (RIP) & THE DYSFUNCTIONAL FAMILY. A perpetual trophy in his name will be handed out in 2018!

Funtastic/Alberni also sponsored the Most Sportsmanlike Team Contest at three tournaments in 2017—Malfunction at the The Junction—Woss Lake Fire Dept. Annual Tourney, & The Gold River Days Tourney. All 3 teams that won were entered in a draw for FREE ENTRY to Okee Dokee 2018----and the winner is………TEAM BREAKING BAD!! Due to the entire team going to a wedding in 2018…..we have given them a rain check and they will be here for 2019!! What a great way to spend their first anniversary….CONGRATS SARA & SCOTT!! Thanks to all the tournament directors and volunteers at these tournaments for doing what you do!! The groups you donate to appreciate it!!

PLEASE NOTE!! Over the past number of years e-mails have been sent to teams who have attended the Okee Dokee Tournament, and after confirming....your spot has basically been saved until the entry form, and entry fees are received, or May 15th. This year we will be sending out the emails early in 2018! It will be, 1st come, 1st serve.
