Because of the 6 passenger rule set by the Coast Guard on recreational boats, larger groups over 6 would need multiple boats, hidious pontoon boats, smallers skiffs with no bathrooms or extremely large commercial boats costing $1000's per hour or more. Because of the lack of options for smaller groups under 20 passengers we created the perfect solution and at affordable rates while keeping comfort and safety our number one concern.

Kismet can hold up to 24 passengers by law but most enjoyable under 20 adults and 4 children for comfort reasons. All of our charters are private. We do not mix groups together to fill the boat, if you have just 7 passengers you will have the entire boat to yourself. You don't have to have 7 or more passengers to rent Kismet, we have a special price for 6 but chartering our   sailing yacht Fate  woud be more cost effective.

We have a two hour minimum (dock to dock) which circles the entire harbor seeing Fort Sumter the Ravenel Bridge and Downtown Charleston and up close to the Yorktown Aircraft carrier. Additional hours can be added when booking to view additional sites or for partying at Shem Creek or swimming at a nearby island. Most cruises stay in the harbor but if you wish we could cruise the intra coastal waterway to Kiawah Island or up to Isle of Palms, no two trips are exactly alike, you will need much more time than two hours for those farther destinations.

Rates are set by group size, we have attempted to make our charters as affordable as possible for the larger groups.  The larger commercial boats will charge double or tripple for the same size groups. Our rates for larger groups breaks down to around $50 per person per hour on average, a very affordable first class experience for families, friends or small business corporate outings. Children under 7 are not counted in the passenger count (ride for free) but we cannot go over our 24 passengers by law.

Our rates are the same per person per minute as the larger non private charters in town but you get a private yacht all to yourself!

Charlestons #1 Bachelorette Party Boat! Over 200 every year!

Saturdays book up 6+ months out, most bachelorette parties arrive on Friday and leave town on Sunday, this leaves Saturday the only day to do a boat ride. We turn down about 20 charters every saturday due to planning too late.  Make your Bride happy and book early for the best availability choices.

Rates are by Group Size : Minimum 2 hours

6 Passengers or less: $275 per hour. Also see our yacht Fate

7-9 Passengers: $400 per hour.

10-15 Passengers: $600 per hour

16-20 Passengers $800 per hour

Charter 4 hours or more receive a 15% discount,(groups of 7 or more, harbor charters only).

A 16% base gratuity is added at the time of booking, we find it easier to take care of that up front then leave the crew out to dry after long day on the harbor. Additional tips are appreciated if you loved your crew and time on board.

Food, alcoholic beverages and dockage fees at other marinas if required are not included.

If you are contemplating booking a charter but see the forecast is not looking absolutely perfect, book anyways, as it will most likely be a great day. Too many times people wait until the day before to see if the forecast improves and then its too late as others have booked or crew made other plans, last minute charters are difficult to put together. In the rare instance you are the 1% charter that we must cancel, we can either reschedule or give a full refund. See the FAQ about the weather.

Besides the standard two hour charters on the online booking, we can customize the day to match exactly what you have in mind. Here are a few examples.

 Family Dolphin Watch

Bring the entire family and explore for dolphins (2 hours). There are nearly 200 bottle nose dolphins in or around the Charleston Harbor at any time. We can explore the creeks and calm waters for easy viewing. From our experience, shorter trip are perfect for younger ones as they dont do well past 2 hours. It is rare that we dont see at least 1 dolphin.

 Shem Creek Experience

Take a half day trip (Minimum 3 hours) to Shem Creek in Mt. Pleasant. Visit the restaraunts for lunch or dinner or bar hop and leave in style on a yacht. Perfect for those wanting a taste of the lowcountry lifestyle.

  Bachelorette/Bachelor Party Harbor Fun

Play in the Charleston Harbor (3-4 hours). Cruise through Shem Creek or anchor near shark tooth beach and swim or play on our blow ups near the shoreline. Swim over to the beach to search for fossilized sharks teeth millions of years old. For the guys, casual fishing can also be arranged, we can anchor in the harbor and bottom fish for whatever bites, usually blue fish, drum and other small fish are caught. Usually see tons of dolphins in this time period.

 Wedding Party Pickup/Dropoff

Getting married and want a water pickup or drop off? Many wedding locations around Charleston like Lowndes Grove, Carolina Yacht Club, Daniel Island, Ion Club, and Wild Dunes have docks we can reach. We can also navigate tidal creeks depending on depths to private homes. Please contact us for rates as these are different than normal day charters.

 Fishing

Casual fishing for your group up to 10 guests can be arranged. We bottom fish the harbor and catch fish or a buzz, whatever comes first. Designed for the guys who want to just hang out and reel in a some fish with their buddies. We find that most bachelor parties who choose fishing get bored in about 30 minutes and just want to jump in the water or cruise Shem Creek.  Also great for families with kids although shorter trips are recommended.  More about fishing.

What We Provide / Catering Options

All of our charters are BYOB, we do provide complimentary bottled water and sodas plus a second cooler full of ice ready for your things.

Having your large party catered is the easiest way to provide great food and affordable beverage options. We recommend Caviar and Bananas for your catering needs. We have worked with them for 8 years and they know what works best on a boating trip. Prices are what you would pay at a grocery store plus a small delivery fee. Your order will be on the yacht when you arrive.

Pickup/ Drop off Locations

Kismet is located at the City Marina in Downtown Charleston. If you are staying downtown you will be about 5 minutes drive to the marina.

If you prefer for a pickup and drop off at other locations we can arrange that for you. The charter delivery rates start from the moment the captain leaves our dock until we return back. Plan on adding at least 1 additional hour to the total time to allow time for the boat to be delivered to and from the pickup location. Dropoffs/pickups at Bohicket Marina are 3.5 hours each way. Delivery times are billed at $275 per hour with minimum of 1 hour.

Important things to know

All charters are with a USCG Licensed Master Captain and mate, certified cpr/first aid with over 10 years of experience. Many of our Captains are also Charleston Firefighters with extensive life saving training and skills.

Please be onboard 15 minutes prior to scheduled departure in order to receive a mandatory orientation and safety briefing.

You will be asked to remove your shoes. If the weather is colder please wear boat shoes, non-scuffing white-soled sneakers. High heels, boots and marking soles will not be allowed on board.

Spray Sunscreens are not allowed on board any of our boats.

Illegal drugs of any kind are not permitted including you folks from Colorado, Oregon etc.. Sorry, its federal law.

Smoking including cigars is not permitted on board.

If you wish to swim, please bring towels, we do not provide them.
