In fact, in terms of building design, accommodation and innovation, it was lauded, at its opening, as one of the best aged care facilities in Australia.
The aged care facility at The Plains provides:

- Spacious single rooms with individual ensuites
- Eight double rooms (suitable for couples)
- Air-conditioning
- Secure dementia house with external courtyard
- Multi-purpose communal space (including 'home theatre')
- Computerised care and medication management (iCare) systems, electronic security, and wireless intra-facility communication (interfaced with nurse call system), MATV system (allowing village events and in-house programs to be beamed to residents), and VoIP telephony/ internet (accessible by residents)
- Eight interlinked 'houses', each with its own Bible-derived name (prefixed by 'Beth' - Hebrew for 'house'), kitchen (shared with adjacent 'house'), dining room and lounge.
- Full access to all village amenities including destination 'town square' precinct (comprising cafe, library,
hairdressing salon and chapel),
courtyards, pond area with gazebo, swimming pool, children's playground, men's workshop, 300-seat community hall, and barbeque pavilion.
The Plains has full three-year Accreditation by the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency.
