Our Plano Orthopedic family is saddened to share the news of the loss of one of our POSMC physicians, Dr. John M. Crates, who passed away on Saturday, December 28th. For over 21 years, Dr. Crates was a valued physician at POSMC and an important part of our family, providing outstanding compassionate care for his patients.
Dr. Crates was a member of the American Orthopedic Foot & Ankle Society and a fellow of the Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He previously served as Vice Chief of Orthopedics at the Medical Center of Plano, as well as served on the Executive Committee at Baylor Frisco Medical Center, where he performed surgery. He was also recognized by The National Registry of Who’s Who, named by D Magazine for “Best Doctors in Dallas” and honored as a Super Doctor by Texas Monthly. Dr. Crates was the team physician for Greenhill High School in Addison, Foot & Ankle Consultant for the Texas Rangers Baseball Club since 2004, and the Foot & Ankle Consultant Assistant Team Physician for the Frisco Rough Riders since 2003.
Dr. Crates will be dearly missed by both the fellow physicians and employees, as well as the patients he cared for in the 21 years at Plano Orthopedic. Please keep his family in your thoughts as they go through this most difficult time.
