Shoulder Impingement Syndrome
What is it?
Shoulder Impingement Syndrome is a condition occurs when the tendons of the rotator cuff, along with the subacromial bursa, become compressed against the bony scapula protrusion called the acromion. As these tissues continually rub against bone, they become irritated and inflamed. Again, certain occupations which require repetitive overhead motions, are common culprits.
Symptom
Symptoms include tenderness, swelling, reduced range of motion, and weakness in the shoulder.
Treatment
Treatments range from rest, anti-inflammatory medications, injections and physical therapy to surgery.
