Tour de Tonka is a ride, it is NOT a race. Ride safe and respectfully.

• The route and roads are open to the public.
• TDT helmet stickers and wristband must be worn at all times.
• Riders may not be three or more riders wide at and after the 5-mile mark of the start of your ride.

No. Numerous volunteers, city and county police departments, state patrol, fire departments and private security companies will be on the route to help keep everyone safe, but none of the routes are closed to traffic. Tour de Tonka Riders must obey all traffic laws during the ride.

Yes, helmets are mandatory.

Yes, Class 1 e-bikes are the only type of e-bike allowed in Tour de Tonka.

Class 1 e-bikes are classified as pedal-assist only, with no throttle and have a maximum assisted speed of 20 mph. They will not move without pedaling. Class 1 e-bike riders seen riding unsafely and/or too fast in or near other bicycle riders may be asked to change their riding habits, or to discontinue their participation in TDT immediately.

Minnesota Statute 169.222 states that children must be 15 years old to ride an e-bike.

Yes, all Tour de Tonka Riders must wear a helmet sticker and wristband. There are two stickers you will get as part of your registration packet. Helmet stickers must go on both the front and on the back of your helmet. These stickers identify you as part of Tour de Tonka. Wristbands will give you admission to rest stops. As Tour de Tonka is not a closed course, helmet stickers also help Police Department and TdT Staff identify you on the route.

Yes. There are 8 rest stops along the routes that include refreshments and snacks and music!

Tour de Tonka is a fully supported ride. SAG vehicles are on patrol throughout the route, and we have bike mechanics at the start of the ride and at all rest stops. If your bike breaks down on the route, stay where you are and call in to Tour de Tonka HQ at 952-401-6800. A SAG vehicle will pick you up, as soon as possible. In case of an emergency, call 911 immediately.

Yes, children 5 and under in bicycle burleys/attachments/trailers ride free.

No pets or animals of any kind are allowed in the event or on school grounds as a spectator. Service dogs for spectators are the only exception and they must be on a leash.

Yes, ICA will accept non-perishable food donations at packet pick-up and on event day. You may also make a monetary donation when you register for Tour de Tonka.

TdT and its riders have raised over $100,000 for the ICA Food Shelf since 2006.

Yes. Onsite registrations will take place at MHS during packet pick‐up on Friday, August 1 from 9 am to 6 pm, and the morning of the ride on Saturday, August 2 per the schedule below:

We do not offer refunds or transfers for any reason at any time including ride cancellation.

Tour de Tonka reserves the right to delay the start of the event or to cancel the event. The safety of all riders is our primary concern. While we recognize the aspirations and commitment of those that have prepared for the ride, we will make decisions about the ride based on the participation population as a whole. Conversations that could lead to the cancellation of the event will be made in cooperation with local law enforcement and the National Weather Service.

In the event of a forced cancellation of Tour de Tonka, the financial impact on the event would be the same as if it were held. Refunds or future credits will not be given if the event is cancelled.

Packet pick‐up is all day on Friday, August 1 from 9 am to 5:30 pm at the MHS West Gym .

Packet pick-up will be available at your start location on Saturday, August 2 per the following:

Parking is available at  Minnetonka High School  and  Clear Springs Elementary . To ensure a spot, we recommend arriving early. Clear Springs parking will open at 5:15 am, Minnetonka High School will open at 5:30 am. 

For the 16, 24 & 40-Mile Riders:The bike corral at Minnetonka High School will be open from 5:30-7:15 am.

For the 58 & 100-Mile Riders:The bike corral at Clear Springs Elementary will be open 5:30-6:45 am.

1. I understand that Tour de Tonka is a ride, it is not a race.
2. I understand that riders will have a wide variety of skills from rookie to experienced.
3. I will ride carefully and I will watch my children.
4. I will line up and start with my ride group.
5. I will obey all Tour de Tonka Event personnel.
6. I will adhere to the laws and rules of the road and trails.
7. I understand this is not a closed course.
8. I promise to stay to the right and respect vehicle traffic.
9. I will be respectful of all non-Tour de Tonka riders, runners, walkers and all who share the road or the trail.
10. I will wear proper Tour de Tonka event identification (helmet sticker & wristband).
11. I will arrive to the event prepared to participate safely. I will bring a helmet and a bicycle in good working condition.
12. I will stay on the marked Tour de Tonka route and respect all personal property along the route.
13. If I become aware of riders in distress, safety issues or concerns, I will call Tour de Tonka Headquarters, 952-401-6800.
14. I will be safe and on my best behavior to ensure the sustainability of Tour de Tonka.
